Wolfman Jack: The Voice of Radio

By Noah GoldmanNo Comments

The days of radio disc jockeys spinning records to entertain listeners through the night are a thing of the past. One of those lost radio disc jockeys had a unmistakable voice and persona they kept listeners glued to the radio to listen to him and not the music.

That radio DJ’s name is Wolfman Jack.

As a child, Wolfman Jack listened to radio personalities all over the world on his transoceanic radio. This interest grew into him graduating from broadcasting school in 1960. Over the next three years, he worked at several stations while creating his Wolfman character.

In 1963, Wolfman Jack took his show across the border to XERF-AM in Mexico. This is where his career virtually launched into outer space due to the station’s high-powered signal that was five-times the U.S. limit. At night, nearly anyone in North America could enjoy his signature style and phrases like; this is the Wolfman on the phone!

Probably his most memorable off-air appearance is 1973 in the feature film American Graffiti. He played himself and his character actually ties the film together. Wolfman Jack died of a heart attack on July 1, 1995 at his home in North Carolina. http://sntk.in/1d8a1f92

Tips for Starting A Home Based Business

By Noah GoldmanNo Comments

The Internet is an endless treasure trove of opportunities for home-based online business. All you need is a computer and Internet access, right? Well, not exactly. You’ll need to ask yourself a few questions before making your first sale. Questions like, “What will my investment be?” and “What products or services can I offer from my home?”

The most ideal success story for a homemade business is selling a product or service. However, if you do not have such an ideal scenario, there are some other businesses that are aptly suited for the virtual realm.

Affiliate Marketing

As the name implies, your business will have an “affiliation” with another business (usually a merchandiser). Place their link on your website. When a visitor clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you get a per-sale commission.

Direct Sales

A direct sales company will pay you commissions to promote their products by providing you with a start-up kit, support, sales training and other benefits.

Drop Shipping

Select a drop shipper and post their products on your website. You don’t handle any physical product because the wholesales send the product to the customer directly.

So maybe this is old news, but being new to the smartphone market, I am just learning a lot about them.  Just posted in the Wall Street Journal was an article that caught my eye.  After investigating several different apps for both the iphone and the android phones, they discovered that a wide range of them send your personal information, stored in the phone to the companies providing the apps.

You can read the story yourself. Find it at  the link below.

What is a Smart Phone?

By Noah GoldmanNo Comments

By definition, a smart phone is a cell phone that offers more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a standard cell phone. Essentially, a smart phone is a handheld computer integrated with a regular cell phone into one very portable unit. Smart phones run complete operating system (OS) software providing a platform for application developers to create downloadable applications that can be installed by the consumer.

In 2002, Research in Motion (RIM) introduced the BlackBerry which was the industry’s first smart phone optimized for wireless e-mail. In additional to handling POP3 and Web-based e-mail, today’s smart phones also communicate well with the most popular social networking sites (e.g., Twitter and Facebook). Some smart phones, such as the BlackBerry Curve 8330, have a pre-loaded Facebook shortcut displaying in the list of applications.

The insatiable demand for advanced mobile devices equipped with powerful processors, increased memory capabilities, larger screens and open operating systems have made smart phones the fastest growing segment of the cell phone market. According to a 2010 study by ComScore, over 45.5 million people in the United States own smart phones. http://sntk.in/8b0346f9
